I Love You, It's Cool

Brooklyn based Bear In Heaven’s follow up to Beast Rest Forth Mouth(2010) feels like a psychedelic themed adventure through a neon forest leaving you exhausted yet yearning for more. Chasing synth’s swirled around electronic ethereal beats with honey toned vocals dripping over. Hmmmm..sounds like what’s for breakfast. Get you a plate full below with the lead single “A Reflection Of You” and then chase that with “Cool Light”. Buy here

I’m posting the Soundcloud embed instead of the music video because you literally need to take a Dramamine to watch it. You will get nauseous.

Joywave

Joywave is an electro pop group from out of Rochester, NY and are on the verge of releasing a new album called Koda Vista due out March 27th following on the heels of their 2011 release 77777 (Mixtape). Plain and simple this is sexy time music. A perfect blend of 80′s synth and modern electro that will make hearts swoon. I’ve been following these guys(not like that) for awhile now and keeping up on their progress and their sound is getting more polished with each release. Two new ones just dropped off the upcoming Koda Vista and they are beauts. Stream the lead single “True Grit” and the just released “Anemone” below off of Koda Vista as well as the whole 77777(Mixtape) album. Buy Koda Vista here on their Bandcamp page and stay connected here on their Facebook page. Now go prepare a bath for your lady and press play. Call me with the details.

Eight And A Half “Scissors/Go Ego”

Did you hear that The Stills broke up or that Broken Social Scene has ended their magnificent run? Wait, wait  do not cry. Everything will be just fine now that Liam O’Neil and Dave Hamelin(of The Stills) and Justin Peroff(BSS) have teamed up to form Eight And A Half. See, I told you it would be alright. Based off these two songs released ahead of their LP I am instantly in love. Two great tastes combined into one. If this is how it’s gonna be guys then I’ll see you outside your window at two in the morning. But I kid. A quick description of what you are in for-Lush electronic pop jogging alongside an ambling drumbeat blanketed with sympathetic vocals. Yeah, I know. It does sound awesome. Album to be released April 12th on Arts & Crafts. Karnsarnit that’s so far away and stuff. Well, in the meantime check out the video for “Scissors” and then get all crazy and stuff and listen to “Go Ego” too…… I dare you to do it.

NZCA/Lines “Compass Points/ Okinawa Channels”

Synth(Cs-60) master Michael Lovett of London makes music under the name NZCA/Lines, which are  ancient geoglyphs from Southern Peru. Thank you Wikipedia. He has released these two tracks from the forthcoming self-titled album due out late February with the latest being “Okinawa Channels” and has positioned himself  for greater things based off of their success. “Compass Points” has elements of R&B washed over electronic melodies. “Okinawa Channels” has a bit more quirk to it but retains a sexy charm that reels you in and hugs you tightly. Perfect low-key party music. Keep an ear out for this guy! Check out the video for “Compass Points” below and buy his music here from iTunes.

Cold Cave- The Great Pan Is Dead

Cold Cave is the experimental music project of Philly native Wesley Eisold. (yaaa Philly!) He now resides in New York.  Eisold does the singing and songwriting, however he does collaborate with a small group of musicians and artists.  ”Cherish the Light Years” is the most current album.  This song took me in a time machine to London in the 80′s… right because I knew exactly what that was like while I was wearing pink overalls playign with my My Little Ponies.

Casiokids “Golden Years”

I love this band. From out of Norway via Bergen comes Casiokids. A synthpop outfit formed in 2005. Their latest album is called “Aabenbaringen over aaskammen” and is one of my faves from 2011 and gets constant iPod play from me. It’s title means “The Revelation Over The Mountain” to me it means “The Revelation in My ears”. It is an album equal parts party and morning after party with it’s danceable tunes and it’s slower paced ones to balance it out. “Golden Years” is a perfect blend of both and should be on one of your mixtapes almost immediately. I’ll give you a few seconds to grab a blank CD. Enjoy the fun that is Casiokids. Great for all occasions!

Oh yeah! Three Chicago boys about to come crashing into the Indie scene with a bang. They have a self-titled EP released May of 2010 with some great tracks on it as well as a few single releases, “Sounds of Your Lovers”(August of this year) and this track here recently released. Their sound is getting tighter and more polished as they mature with time. Evidenced in this latest track. This is the kind of tune you belt out loud in the shower or in your car as fellow motorists speed by you because you’re doing 50 in a 65 and glance at you with a look that says “Hey Mariah Carey get off the road before you kill someone” . I know it’s hard to pay attention to the road when you get wrapped up in song. I know. Just be careful out there and maybe try this one in the shower first. Now go and get cleaned up you dirty little kiddies!
