Faye “Water Against The Rocks”

Faye is the moniker chosen by Fanny Hamlin who was formerly a member of Sweden’s super girl pop group Play. She is out of the gates already with a beautiful track and wasting no time casting a spell over your ears with “Water Against The Rocks”. Awash with heavy basslines and foot tapping drum beats alongside her euphoric vocals playfully dancing about, “Water Against The Rocks” is a track that will have you hitting the replay button and coming back for more again and again. Faye has experienced stardom before with Play, but she is well on her way again strictly based on her own merits. Enjoy “WATR” below as well as the video of her previously released track “Come To Me”.

MMOTHS “Folding”

Here’s a tune constructed of growling rolling bass and ambient whistles by budding electro engineer MMOTHS. Download it for free here.

The Mast “UpUpUp”

Here’s a sexy yet eerie tune from Brooklyn duo The Mast off the EP UpUpUp(Remixes). The beat flows in and out as it rides a cosmic wave of energy while Haale Gafori’s ethereal vocals hover beautifully over it adding just the right amount of poison to create a track that’ll make you want to take your clothes off. How can you go wrong there? Well I guess if you are in the grocery store or going through security at the airport or jogging you can. Just be careful where you play it, but on the other hand if I see or hear about a nude jogger epidemic I will at least know I got my point across. Enjoy the awesome video with a chalked up Pandora Marie below.

"He must be listening to The Mast's UpUpUp"

When I went searching for the AOTW I noticed that there were some really good bands releasing albums this week like Metric, Hot Chip, The Hundred In The Hands(almost chose this one), Wintersleep, and POP ETc(used to be The Morning Benders) but when I looked off to the left and saw Niki And The Dove I new I had a winner. I have loved this band from the outset as they make the perfect electro pop that really satisfies my aural palate. Only setback of this album is that there is only 6 new songs as the other 6 were previously released but they are still great even after my 1000th listen and if you haven’t heard them then my friend you are in for a treat. Together they comprise one of the best albums of the year thus far IMO. So many great tracks to choose from so I am choosing one of the newer ones for you to listen to. Enjoy “DJ, Ease My Mind” below and do yourself a favor and immediately download or if you still frequent record stores, and you should, snatch it off the racks before they are sold out. DL here.

New Passion Pit ” I’ll Be Alright”

Following their first single “Take A Walk” is “I’ll Be Alright” off their upcoming album Gossamer to be released July 24th. Warning: Dancing with stuffed animals and/or black lighting may ensue. You may proceed.

New Holy Other “Love Some1″

YES!! My Man from Chester or Manchester for you puzzle haters has just released the lead track from his debut album Held due out August 28th via Triangle records called “Love Some1″. He stays true to form with his gloomy electro that simultaneously draws you in to it’s hypnotic beat but yet keeps you at a distance because you’re to scared to fully immerse yourself into it’s ghostly intensity. I understand. If I walked into Ole Man CunnieBucket’s house at night and this was playing I would certainly go no further and scamper out as quickly as possible. Although, I would be impressed that Ole Man CunnieBucket knew who and was playing Holy Other in the first place. I guess I’ll stop throwing rocks at his house on the weekends. He seems pretty cool all of a sudden. Anyways, click play and let the track envelop your mind, and you can leave the lights on if you want!

I listen to Holy Other every day dammit!!.... Now get off my lawn!!!

M83 “Reunion(Naked and Famous Remix)”

equals

I’m not kidding when I say this just might be my favorite track of the year thus far. Within seconds I was like “OMG-spot, this is my new jam!” Young Wonder are from Cork, Ireland and make ungodly amazing electronic ear love. They released their self titled EP mid-April and “Orange” is the lead track. “Orange” is a great party jam with it’s chill flow and Rachel Koeman’s gorgeous vocals gliding in and out of the sexy roll of the electro. Buy the EP here and jam to “Orange” below because it’s the fuggin’ shib!!!!!!

On The Rise: Carousel

Carousel began producing/playing music together while attending Berklee College of Music. There they developed a unique sound that pairs the drive of electro with the melodic temperament of indie pop. That’s a damn good thing too folks! They have an EP called 26 Allston which was released late 2011 and includes 4 very strong tracks that will get your toes gigglin’ and your feet wigglin’. Recently they have released “Where Have You Gone”(my favorite thus far) and “Let’s Go Home”. Every release is getting stronger as they are becoming a more cohesive and seasoned unit with the promise of greater things on the horizon. Keep your ear peeled for more from these guys and stay connected here and download here for more from this soon to take off group. Sample below.

Off of 26 Allston.

My fave!

Churches “Lies”

Not much is known about this group except that it’s two guys and a girl(no and not a pizza place) from Glasgow. I do know that this track deserves your attention with it’s powerful anthemic electro beat and commanding female vocals that will have your adrenalin dancing in your veins like Carlton on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Your adrenaline will look something like this!

Ghost Loft “Seconds”

There are certain songs that conjure images of pure and raw sexuality that get the mind racing and the libido amped. “Seconds” is such a song. I know once you hear it you will be all like “Damn, I gots to play this for my lady the next time we get all amorous and shizz!” or something to that extent. Ghost Loft is Danny Choi from L.A. and although he currently only has a couple tracks out he is planning to release an EP by the end of the year. Check out “Seconds” below and then his ultra sexy remix of JJ’s “Beautiful Life”. Go grab your girl/guy and press play.

Jakwob is James Edward Jacob from London and he is a master craftsman of electronic ear pleasing, bass driven ecstasy. The Prize is just that. You actually feel as if you have been gifted something special when you hear it and you have. The album has collaborations from Ghost, Youngman, Kano, Roses Gabor, and 14th which add cred and sustenance to an already dynamic album taking the echelons of it’s reach higher still. I’ve followed Jakwob for a long while now ever since I first heard his take on Ellie Goulding’s “Starry Eyed” and Mr. Fogg’s “Moving Parts” and believe me when I say he has upped his game since then. You can download the album for free here. Check out the remixes aforementioned then jump into The Prize with both feet by streaming the whole album below.

New Twin Shadow “Five Seconds”

Yeah George!! Easily one of my favorite artists my man George has done it again with another stellar offering in “Five Seconds” from his forthcoming album Confess due out in early July. This one has a beat that immediately grabs you and holds you tight as it takes you on a night cruise over an electronic wonderland. Ahhhhhh…..why is July so far away?!!!!! Can’t…..wait……must….have..more!!!!!

Enjoy!!

Kwes “Bashful”

British producer/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Kwes will release his new EP Meantime at the end of the month with the lovely single “Bashful” leading the way. I imagine this tune playing over a romantic scene in a Jennifer Aniston vehicle where the male lead is mustering up enough courage to go over and talk to her but let’s her slip away. Oh snap! Now he’s gonna go home and trash his apartment because he was to scared to talk to her. Gotta seize these moments fellas even if it really Jennifer sitting there. Hell, at the very least you can say you hit on Jennifer Aniston. That’s awesome in itself and hey maybe she says yes in an alternate universe and you instantly become Captain Immortal with the ballsiest move ever. Way to go sport!! Check it out below and then check it out again because it’s that good. Buy it here.
