Did you hear that The Stills broke up or that Broken Social Scene has ended their magnificent run? Wait, wait do not cry. Everything will be just fine now that Liam O’Neil and Dave Hamelin(of The Stills) and Justin Peroff(BSS) have teamed up to form Eight And A Half. See, I told you it would be alright. Based off these two songs released ahead of their LP I am instantly in love. Two great tastes combined into one. If this is how it’s gonna be guys then I’ll see you outside your window at two in the morning. But I kid. A quick description of what you are in for-Lush electronic pop jogging alongside an ambling drumbeat blanketed with sympathetic vocals. Yeah, I know. It does sound awesome. Album to be released April 12th on Arts & Crafts. Karnsarnit that’s so far away and stuff. Well, in the meantime check out the video for “Scissors” and then get all crazy and stuff and listen to “Go Ego” too…… I dare you to do it.

Pass Kontrol are from Brooklyn and they make rock that will have you saying “Who is this?” tell me now, I must download immediately. You have Wi-Fi here right? Their sound is hard to pin down though as they have elements of Black Keys, Ramones, some 70′s punk, I heard some Interpol in there and even a little Talking Heads. See. That’s alot of different sounds swirling in your headphones but gosh darnit if they aren’t all damn good ones. I am going to create a new genre and just call it “Awesome” because that’s much easier and it fits their sound to a “T”. B38 is named after their favorite bus line in Brooklyn and was released March of 2011. Check out a sampling of tunes from the album ‘B38″ below and then buy it here on their Bandcamp page.
