Torches “I Want Something”

Torches are from L.A. and they just released their first full length called Heads Full Of Rust and I must say it will be shuffling in my iPod for a long time to come. Great emotive tracks throughout that will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime and harken back to that one summer. Lead track “I Want Something” is the ideal tune heading into the warm season with it’s catchy hooks and all around feel goodness that reaches into your soul and grabs hold of your happy. Buy the album here and thouroughly enjoy “I Want Something” below.

We're on fire!... Get it?.. Because their name is Torches.

New Snowmine track “Saucer Eyes”

We here at MH5 love us some Snowmine so when I heard they had just put out a new single I dropped everything and ran to the computer to listen. Thank god I wasn’t holding my 1 year old niece! After the first few chords I was smiling greatly as I knew immediately that they had not failed to disappoint. Vintage Snowmine sound with their airy guitar riffs and Grayson Sanders signature vocals that let you know right away that yes, this is another stellar Snowmine tune. If you haven’t heard these guys yet get in the know here. Check out “Saucer Eyes” below and then stay tuned here for updates on more from this amazing band.

School of Seven Bells “Lafaye/The Night”

SVIIB as they are affectionately known in Indie circles are a dream pop duo consisting of Benjamin Curtis from Secret Machines and originally Alejandra and Claudia Deheza(identical stunning twin sisters) and they are named for the mythical South American pickpocket training academy. Claudia left the group in 2010 for personal reasons and now Ben and Alejandra remain. They have two full length albums to their catalog(Alpinisms-2008 and Disconnect From Desire-2010). They will be releasing a 3rd next month titled “Ghoststory” and which the track “Lafaye” and “The Night” will come from. Both songs are beautiful ear candy and should be added to your immediate playlist/s. Their previous albums can be bought here on iTunes or here from Amazon whichever you prefer. Get your shoes shined, it’s time to stare at them.

The Middle East- Blood

Mp 3:The Middle East – Blood (HQ )

Home to Queensland the band The Middle East popped on the Australian music scene in 2005 playing at local Christian music festivals.  They had a breakup and makeup along the way and in 2011 they released there first full album “I Want That You Are Always Happy” under the label Spunk Records.  First released in Australia and New Zealand then 6 months later it made it’s way to the US.  This song is quite beautiful, but very sad.  Definitely one to really listen to the lyrics.  Be sure you have access to a box of tissues.  Ahh what more can I say Folk is the heart.

The Antlers- “Rolled Together”

Brooklyn, NY  based band The Antlers was started as a solo project by Peter Silberman. Pete wrote the first two albums and for the third he brought on two new members: Michael Lerner and Darby Cicci.  This song off their latest EP “Burst Apart”  is a warm fire on a bitter cold day.  It’s the type of song that you feel from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.  The album needs to be used for one of those somewhat cheesy, yet intense love story movies that you said “Whatever that looks so dumb.”  Then 2 hours later you’re sobbing on your couch with a roll of toilet paper.
