Kowalski “Take Care, Take Flight EP”

Hey Paddy, is that a Snicker's bar in the pool?

Hailing from Bangor, Ireland is the indie electro-pop outfit Kowalski who’s sound has been described as sun kissed, infectious, muscular, and dreamy. I do agree. I feel like I’m skipping across clouds being chased by neon orange monkey’s when I listen to them. Whoa! I need to stop writing these posts after I shroom out. Ok, I’m all betters now. Dive right in and stream the EP Take Care, Take Flight below and then you tell me how it makes you feel. Shroooming is optional. Get it here on their Bandcamp page.

I said it was optional...... but isn't it tempting?.....and pretty?

ALBUM OF THE WEEK!!!! Tanlines “Mixed Emotions”

This is the first album by these guys and it’s a beauty. They released an EP in 2010 titled Settings that gave promise and anticipation for an album release and they succeeded famously with Mixed Emotions. Check out the two lead tracks “All Of Me” and “Brothers” off this wonderful album below and then go get you it here.

Joywave

Joywave is an electro pop group from out of Rochester, NY and are on the verge of releasing a new album called Koda Vista due out March 27th following on the heels of their 2011 release 77777 (Mixtape). Plain and simple this is sexy time music. A perfect blend of 80′s synth and modern electro that will make hearts swoon. I’ve been following these guys(not like that) for awhile now and keeping up on their progress and their sound is getting more polished with each release. Two new ones just dropped off the upcoming Koda Vista and they are beauts. Stream the lead single “True Grit” and the just released “Anemone” below off of Koda Vista as well as the whole 77777(Mixtape) album. Buy Koda Vista here on their Bandcamp page and stay connected here on their Facebook page. Now go prepare a bath for your lady and press play. Call me with the details.

SONG OF THE WEEK!!!! Noosa “Fear of Love”

I did not fear this track, I fell in love with it within the first few seconds. Not much on this gal but maybe that’s what she’s going for. All I know is she’s from New York and if this song is any indication of what she brings to the table then that’s a table I want to sit at for a long long time. Stay in touch through her Bandcamp page for future releases.

C’mon it’s Miike Snow, of course it’s gonna be album of the week!!! Check out the video for “Paddling Out”and buy here.

Simian Ghost

Sweden is a mecca for beautiful indie pop and Simian Ghost stands atop that lovely mountain. This Stockholm three piece released their debut album Infinite Traffic Everywhere in 2010 to critical acclaim and was voted record of the year in Sweden. They followed that with the primarily electronic EP Lovelorn in 2011 which has the single “Free Agent” and with which Pitchfork fell in love with. Just last month they released Youth which brought back the guitars from their debut and which emphasizes the bands maturity and cohesiveness. This is a band that deserves your attention as they just get better and better with each release and who reward you with tunes that will play indefinitely on your iPod or whatever listening device of your choice. Sorry Walkman owners not you, but let’s face it if you are still rocking a Walkman then you probably don’t own a computer either. Commodore 64′s don’t count as computers…..anymore. Check out “Free Agent” from Lovelorn and the sublimely wonderful “Crystalline Lovers Mind” below from Youth. Stay connected here on their website and buy the well received Youth here on iTunes.

SONG OF THE WEEK: CUT RIBBONS “WALKING ON WIRES”

Oh man this song is good!! Been playing it for a week straight now. It’s got that kind of sticking power. Cut Ribbons is a band to keep an ear out for. Will be breaking out soon!
